Edge Helps Connect Largest Statewide Association with Its Members

About California Apartment Association

Founded in 1941, The California Apartment Association (CAA) is the nation’s largest statewide trade association, serving professionals who own and manage rental property. CAA’s primary goal is to protect its members’ investments through political and legal advocacy within the state of California. Today, CAA has more than 17,000 members, representing 50,000 property owners and industry professionals.

The Challenge – Finding a hosting provider with iMIS capabilities

Several years ago, CAA knew in a burgeoning Web-driven market that it needed to make improvements to its website to better connect with members and allow them to pay dues and purchase literature, meaning its website would need to be PCI-compliant. To turn this vision into reality, CAA’s technical team was going to require outside help.

More than anything, CAA was interested in adopting iMIS technology, the most widely used software platform for associations in the world. This move would require a hosting provider with iMIS experience and skilled technicians to ensure a smooth transition during the implementation.

The Solution – A true full-service hosting provider

When Corinne McClendon signed on as CAA’s Web and IT Manager, Edge Web Hosting was already in place as the hosting provider and had helped make CAA’s dreams of a website that could offer more to members a reality. McClendon quickly learned that Edge excelled at understanding CAA’s unique needs as a large association.

Since working with Edge, McClendon says she is more comfortable with the heavy use of ColdFusion and ASP applications in CAA’s technical configuration.

No matter what technical problem arises, the Edge team confidently addresses it. McClendon knows that when she’s on a tight deadline and in need of immediate assistance, she can call Edge and a helpful technician is going to be on the other side.

“They seem genuinely concerned about fixing my problem,” McClendon says. “Regardless of the question or request we send over, they seem to do it with a smile in their voice.”

Edge’s 5-tiered security platform also helps McClendon and the rest of the CAA team feel confident that the association’s servers are protected on every level. With sensitive information passing through its system, CAA is confident that Edge properly manages its network firewall and keeps threats to an absolutely minimum, according to McClendon.

Results – A fully integrated and PCI-compliant website

Thanks to Edge, McClendon doesn’t have to worry about midnight phone calls saying CAA’s servers are down. That’s simply not a problem that comes up when working with Edge’s skilled technicians. CAA knows its servers are safe and protected under Edge’s watchful eye.

“I can’t say enough good things about them,” says McClendon. “Edge completely understands the vital role the software plays in allowing CAA to run its business and website effectively.”

Those in leadership positions at CAA, including McClendon, know Edge has been one of the smartest business decisions they’ve ever made. The CAA relies on its website to communicate up-to-the-minute news with its members, which makes having a solid hosting company in place a priceless asset.

“Member relations are the lifeblood of what makes us tick,” says McClendon. “Because of the excellent support Edge has provided to us throughout the years, we have been able to frequently connect to a loyal membership base, positioning our association well for the future.”
