Cold Fusion Server Recovery Utilities

Here are some of the tools and utilities that can help you with cfserver recovery.

- Kill Utility

Many of the batch files below that perform hard service restarts use a freeware utility called PsKill.exe that can be downloaded here:

Once you download this utility, place a copy of pskill.exe into your \WINNT\SYSTEM32 folder.  It will then be accessible to all of your scripts since it will remain in the path.

- Restart Utilities

Please review each of the batch files below to ensure that they are compatible with your systems and work with the appropriate services running your your server.

Soft Restarts: The following batch files will perform normal service restarts using traditional methods.  These can be used for general service restarts to resolve minor problems.

Hard Restarts: The hard reset utilities below let you restart services in a critical situation.  Please note, these are only to be used in case of emergency:

- CFMail Bug

Download and run the following batch file to fix the cfmail bug: FixMail.bat

- MDB File Recovery Tools

Step 1) Run repair and compact on the database within Microsoft Access:

Step 2) Run JETCOMP.EXE on the database available from Microsoft

Step 3) Use the following utility to find out if the database has a password, and ensure that the password is used in your ODBC setup in Cold Fusion.

- Registry Fix

To repair the CF Registry problem, you may download Macromedia's utility to clean the registry, although this utility may take several hours to complete the repair.
